Elaine A. de M. G. Soares, a dedicated educator at Stephen F. Austin High School in Fort Bend Independent School District, is one of those inspiring teachers shaping the future of CS education. Over her four years with Fort Bend ISD, Elaine has taught a range of subjects, from middle school mathematics and advanced Algebra to Robotics and the cutting-edge Verizon Innovation Lab at Hodges Bend Middle School. Now, she’s leading the charge in high school CS, teaching courses from Computer Science I to AP Computer Science A, as well as advanced CS and Independent Studies in Technology Applications.
We sat down with Elaine to explore her journey in the world of computer science education, her unique insights into the teaching profession, and why she believes CS is a vital component of every student’s education.
